Focus Group

The Deep Funding Focus Group (FG) is an intermediary between the Deep Funding community and the Deep Funding staff team. We aim to provide useful insights to operational staff from our engagement with the community, ensuring that there is community input into decisions.

This “intermediary” role often involves providing advice, both on specific actions and on overall direction for Deep Funding. While our advice is non-binding, in most cases the team and community has benefitted from the detailed insights and oversight provided by the FG. One early example was how to deal with “spam” comments on proposals in DFR3, where we listened to the community, made a set of recommendations, and sought community consent.

We function as a “sparring partner” for the Deep Funding staff team, particularly Jan, who brings new ideas to be discussed and analysed before they are implemented. Through our wide connections across the ecosystem, we also stay aware of the pulse of community sentiment, understanding both the said and unsaid, and relating it back to the DF team.
