Nigeria’s AI Future Starts Now. Artificial Intelligence is the engine of global progress, and in 2025, the focus is on Africa’s most innovative economy. We’re thrilled to announce the Nigeria National AI Hackathon 2025, a premier platform for AI developers, researchers, and students to showcase creativity and build solutions with real-world impact.

Organized by DEEP Funding, our community-driven grant program supporting decentralized AI development, the Hackathon invites passionate minds to collaborate, innovate, and reimagine how AI can transform lives across Nigeria and beyond.

What It’s About

The Nigeria National AI Hackathon 2025 is more than a competition, it’s a call to action. Participants will design and prototype AI-based solutions that address challenges in critical sectors such as health, security, and sustainability.

Whether you’re a student exploring AI for social good or a researcher pushing the boundaries of machine learning, this event is your chance to turn ideas into impactful prototypes.

Who Should Participate?

The Hackathon is open exclusively to students and recent graduates participating in the six Nigerian tertiary institutions.

You can register as:

• An individual participant, or

• Teams of up to three are encouraged, with a mandate for at least one female participant to foster diversity. Multidisciplinary teams that blend tech, business, and creative skills are highly welcome!

How to Register

1. Complete the Online Form

   Provide your team details, area of interest, and individual information.
   
2. Select a Team Lead
   The team lead serves as the primary contact during the hackathon.
   
3. Registration Period
   Opens: October 6, 2025
   Closes: November 6, 2025
   Late submissions will not be accepted.

Thematic Areas

Participants will build solutions within one of the following focus areas:

• AI in Health: for better diagnosis, accessibility, and care delivery.

• AI in Security: safeguarding communities through intelligent systems.

• AI in Green Economy: advancing climate resilience and sustainability.

• General Innovative AI Solutions: open category for bold, creative ideas.

National Finals: December 6–9, 2025

Awards & Global Opportunity

• The top two teams from each region advance to the National Finals (12 finalists total).

• The Top 5 National Winning Teams will each receive a prize package worth $1,000, including dollar based crypto, mentorship, and resources to further develop their prototype. 
• The Best Overall Team will gain the prestigious opportunity to represent Nigeria at the African National AI Contest, powered by Deep Funding.
