Nigeria National AI Hackathon 2025

Introduction

Are you passionate about using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to solve real-world problems? Do you possess the creativity, skills, and drive to develop innovative solutions that positively impact lives? You are welcome to the Nigeria National AI Hackathon 2025. A premier platform for AI developers, researchers, and students across Nigeria to showcase groundbreaking ideas that address national and global challenges. Powered by Deep Funding, a community-driven grant program.
Please carefully read the following registration instructions before signing up your team.

Hackathon Date:

October 6th 2025 - December 4th 2025
Registration:

October 6th 2025 - November 6th 2025
Prize Money:

$1,000

Eligibility criteria:

Open to students and researchers residing in Nigeria's tertiary institutions.
Participants may register individually or as part of a team of 3 members with at least 1 female member.
Teams are encouraged to be multidisciplinary (e.g., computer science, engineering, business, health, agriculture).

Registration Process

Complete the Online Form

Provide team details, thematic area of interest, and individual participant information.

Team Composition

Choose one member as Team Lead (main contact person).
Each team member must provide:
- Full Name
- Email Address
- Phone Number
- Institution/Organization
- Area of Expertise.

Registration Period

Registration opens on 6th October 2025 and closes on 6th November 2025.
Late entries will not be considered.

Teams must select one thematic area for their project:

AI in Health
AI in Security
AI in Green Economy
General Innovative AI Solutions

Confirmation

After submission, you will receive a confirmation email on the 20th of November, 2025.
Only confirmed teams will be allowed to participate in the regional hackathons.

13 and 14 November, 2025

South-West
17 and 18 November, 2025

South-South
20 and 21 November, 2025

South-East
24 and 25 November, 2025

North-East
27 and 28 November, 2025

National Dates:

National Finals
3 and 4 December, 2025

Awards & Progression

Regional Stage

The best two teams from each regional hackathon will qualify to participate in the National Hackathon.
With six regions competing, a total of 12 teams will advance to the nationals.

National Stage

All 12 qualified teams will compete at the National Hackathon Finals.
After evaluation, the top 5 teams will be selected as winners.
Each of the top 5 winning teams will receive a $1000 prize.

International Representation

From the top 5, the best overall team will be chosen.
This team will go on to represent Nigeria at the African National AI Contest powered by Deep Funding.

Rules:

Who can participate? Only students and researchers from Nigerian tertiary institutions are eligible to register.

Can I participate alone? Yes, you can register individually or form a team of up to 3 members.

Must my team include a female member? Yes, each team must have at least 1 female member.

When does registration close? Registration closes on 6th November 2025. Late entries will not be accepted.

Can I choose any theme? Yes, but you must select one thematic area: AI in Health, AI in Security, AI in Green Economy, or General Innovative AI Solutions.

How many teams advance from regionals? The top 2 teams from each of the 6 regional hackathons advance to nationals (12 teams total).

What happens after I register? You will receive a confirmation email on 20th November 2025. Only confirmed teams can participate.
